NEW HEAD OF GIRLS' AND WOMEN'S CRICKET

June 23, 2020

We are delighted to announce that Dave Smith will take over as Head of TWCC Girls’ and Women’s cricket. He formally succeeds Andrew Cloke on September 1st. The initial agreement covers seasons 2021 and 2022.

The role will cover the development of all female cricketers at the Club from age 7 upwards, through the player pathway for youth cricket which for those who wish it, ultimately leads into our Women’s team.

Dave has been a member of the TWCC 1st XI since 2014. He is Master in Charge of Cricket at Sevenoaks School and has been Director of Invicta Cricket Coaching since 2015. Whilst at University he had experience coaching in the women’s game with the Oxford University Women’s team. He played three first class games for Oxford MCCU between 2008 and 2011 and played for Oxfordshire CCC for 5 seasons.

Chairman Mark Williams said, “We are really pleased to have Dave in the role, taking over from the excellent work of Andrew Cloke, and look forward to further successes for our junior players and the re-establishment of our Women’s team.”

Dave Smith commented, “I am very excited to start the role and help shape the future of girls’ and women’s cricket at the Club. TWCC is the best run club I have ever been involved with and is certainly the best club ground I have ever played at. It is my aim to build upon the good work of those before me and make the girls’ and women’s section the strongest in the South of England."

UMPIRING COURSE STAGE 1

June 18, 2020

Here is a great opportunity to get an umpiring qualification and be ready and able to umpire when the good times return!

The ECB has recently released a free online version of the Stage 1 Umpiring course, open to anyone over the age of 13; it takes 3 to 4 hours to complete.

The course gives an overview of the basic Laws of the game and how to understand and apply them.

Kent Cricket has set a challenge to the clubs to see who can get the most members signed up and through the course over the coming weeks.

They will publish 'league tables' regularly over the coming weeks across their social media channels and there could even be some prizes for the top performing clubs!

KAPIL DEV, TWCC AND BOLLYWOOD!

July 13, 2019

The Nevill Ground hosted one of world cricket’s most historic matches between India and Zimbabwe on June 18th 1983. India had collapsed to 17 for 5 when captain Kapil strode to the wicket. It is an often-used cliché to say …and the rest is history. But in this case, it isn’t; it is legendary!
