KAPIL DEV, TWCC AND BOLLYWOOD!
July 13, 2019
A remarkable unbeaten innings of 175 by India’s Kapil Dev saw India’s innings finish on 266-8, dismissing Zimbabwe for 235.
India went on to win the World Cup.
And more than a quarter of a century later, in Cricket World Cup year, to mark the momentous match, a re-enactment of the innings which made Kapil such a legend, has been filmed here at The Nevill. The film shot over a 2-week period early in July, is part of the Indian Sports’ drama film entitled ’83’, directed by Kabir Khan with Ranveer Singh playing the part of Kapil Dev.
The film ‘83 is scheduled for release in the Spring. Such is the worldwide enthusiasm of Indian people for their team wherever they live, that the expectation is that this film will be very popular globally in all countries where there is a substantive Indian population, and cricket-lovers everywhere.
At TWCC we can expect a continued pilgrimage of tourists dropping in at The Nevill, which has been the case from 1983 to the present day. They want to see for themselves where it happened; to grab their pictures and to say, “I have been there”.
We shall have a number of items for sale to the wider public. Details of these coming soon.
